One man dies, one seriously hurt after wreck in Cole County

COLE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

An Omaha man died after a one-vehicle wreck in Cole County on Friday morning.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Omar Mendez Lopez was driving a 2003 Mini Cooper near the intersection of Rock Bridge Road and Frog Hollow Road when the vehicle left the road and Mendez Lopez overcorrected making the vehicle go off the right side of the road. The vehicle then hit a sign and two fences.

Mendez Lopez was thrown from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Eddy Reyes was traveling with Mendez Lopez and was seriously injured.

Reyes was wearing a seatbelt, Mendez Lopez was not.

This is Troop F's third fatality in May and the 28th of 2022.
