MEXICO, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mexico Public Safety Department responded to a crash involving a vehicle hitting a railroad underpass on the 1500 block of East Liberty Friday afternoon.

Officers report that Martin Ahrens, 58, of Mexico, was driving a 1997 Peterbilt tractor-trailer eastbound when a piece of equipment on his trailer hit the underpass and shifted.

The shifted equipment then hit a 2014 Ford being driven westbound by Russell Risenhoover, 51, of Martinsburg, and a 2006 Peterbilt being driven westbound by Jeffrey Tinker, 56, of Centralia.

According to a release, Risenhoover had minor injuries and refused medical care.

Officials report the underpass had minimal damage as a result of being struck.
