Highway Patrol Troop B arrested a man on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and being a minor in possession of alcohol after crash reports say he veered off a road and hit a tree.

Kade Shaver, 20, from Callao, Missouri, was not wearing a safety device when the crash happened shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Troopers said Shaver was driving a pickup truck westbound on Highway 36 when he went off the north side of the road, hitting a tree. It happened about a mile west of Bevier, Missouri, in Macon County.

An ambulance transported Shaver to a hospital with serious injuries.

According to MSHP arrest records, troopers arrested him for the two charges following the crash. A spokesperson with Troop B told ABC 17 News he could not release any additional information about the crash or arrest due to an ongoing investigation.

A spokesperson with University Hospital in Columbia said Shaver was in good condition shortly before 8 a.m. Thursday.
