One person hospitalized following single-vehicle crash and fire

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

One person is in the hospital with moderate injuries after police responded to a crash on Creasy Springs Road around 3 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Once crews arrived at the scene, they observed a car fully engulfed in flames.

According to Boone County sheriff's deputies at the scene, the crash involved a single car with one person inside.

Deputies said the driver, though taken to the hospital, was alert speaking with crews following the crash.

Police and fire crews were seen searching the area with flashlights, as others fought to put out the smoking car.

Sheriff's deputies said while they'll continue to investigate and follow up with the driver, they believe speed may have been a factor in the crash.
