MSHP: Distracted driving causes US 54 wreck in Callaway County

CALLAWAY COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is reporting a driver distracted by a cellphone caused a wreck on US 54 near County Road 338 in Callaway County Thursday.

The online crash report reports a 2011 Kia Sorento hit the rear of a tractor-trailer causing the Sorento to overturn.

Officials report the driver, Mariah Vestal, was wearing a seatbelt.

Vestal was taken to University hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the tractor trailer reported no injuries.
