COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia authorities have blocked off a northbound lane of Providence Road near the Stadium Boulevard intersection Monday morning because of a wreck.

An ABC 17 News crew at the scene said at least five vehicles were involved in the crash. At 9 a.m., crews reopened one lane of Providence.

Boone County Joint Communications sent out an alert about the crash just before 8:15 a.m. asking other motorists to avoid the area.

Columbia police officers and firefighters were spotted at the scene. Crews did not immediately say if anyone was hurt in the wreck or what caused it.

The news crew said officers arrested one person who may have been involved in the crash.
