Three killed in head-on accident in northeast Missouri

NOVINGER, Mo. (AP) — An investigation continues into an accident that killed three people in northeast Missouri.

KTVO-TV reports that the accident happened about 2:30 a.m. Monday on Adair County Route O near the town of Novinger.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said a pickup truck and an SUV collided head-on at the crest of a hill.

Troopers say the SUV driven by 36-year-old Nicholaus Ford of Kirksville crossed the center line and collided with a truck driven by 47-year-old Thomas Trauernicht of Green Castle.

Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the SUV, 30-year-old Samantha Peek, also was killed.
