3 hurt in Howard County wreck on Highway 40

HOWARD COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

State troopers say three people were hurt in a two-vehicle wreck in eastern Howard County Wednesday night.

The highway patrol crash report said both vehicles -- a truck and an SUV -- were driving west on Highway 40 at the Highway 240 intersection when the SUV tried to turn around in the middle of the road.

Daniel Curtis, 64, and Nadra Curtis, 71, both of Plato, Mo. were in the SUV when it was hit on the left side by 59-year-old Thomas Schnell's Dodge truck.

Troopers said each of the people were hurt -- Schnell and Nadra Curtis had moderate injuries, Daniel Curtis had serious injuries. All three were taken to University Hospital in Columbia.

Hospital spokesman Eric Maze said Schnell had been treated and released and both Curtis' were in fair condition.
