Three detained after crash in northeast Columbia; three suspects at large

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Boone County Sheriff’s Department arrested three juveniles Wednesday night after a short chase and crash in northeast Columbia.

According to a release from the sheriff's department, a deputy attempted to stop a Hyundai Tucson for speeding on Lakewood Drive.

According to officials, the driver of the Hyundai sped off and didn't turn at the intersection of Orchard Lane/McKee Street. That is when the vehicle crashed into a wooden fence and tree in the 1900 block of McKee Street.

Officials say six people exited the Hyundai and ran on foot. Deputies caught three of them but three others got away.

Deputies found a gun in the vehicle, the sheriff's department said.

The juveniles were referred to the Boone County Juvenile Office.
