CALLAWAY COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Hospital officials say a man is in critical condition after being involved in a pedestrian crash in Callaway County early Wednesday morning.

State troopers say Danny Wood, 47, of Lake Ozark, hit 38-year-old Quantrell Robertson of Jefferson City on eastbound Highway 54.

The highway patrol crash report said Robertson was standing in the roadway when he was hit around 1:15 a.m. Holts Summit police said in a news release that it wasn't clear why Robertson was in the road.

Robertson was taken to University Hospital with serious injuries, troopers said. The report said the driver was not hurt.

Hospital spokesman Eric Maze said Robertson was in critical condition.

Callaway County deputies and Holts Summit police responded to the crash.
