Chicago man charged with DWI causing serious bodily injury after Tuesday night wreck

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Chicago man is charged with DWI after a Tuesday night wreck that sent one person to the hospital with serious injuries.

According to court documents, Pierre Garrett was crashed going eastbound on Interstate 70 at the US 40 overpass.

Garrett told Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper that someone had robbed him and the passengers and took them and the vehicle from Chicago to Columbia.

Witnesses told the trooper no one had left the vehicle after the wreck occurred.

A passenger in the vehicle went to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Garrett originally denied a preliminary breath test but consented nearly four hours after the wreck and blew a .047% according to court documents.

Garrett has a $5,000 cash or surety bond.

Garrett's next court dates are next Tuesday and Dec. 2.
