Patrol: 2 hurt and 1 arrested in Boone County DWI crash
MIDWAY, Mo. (KMIZ)
Mid-Missouri troopers say two people were hurt and one other was arrested Tuesday afternoon after a DWI crash near the Midway exit on Interstate 70 East.
Missouri State Highway Patrol reports say 32-year-old Pierre Garrett of Chicago was arrested on suspicion of DWI causing serious physical injury and resisting arrest after the single-vehicle wreck.
The patrol's crash report said Garrett's 2006 Pontiac minivan drove off the right side of the interstate around 1:30 p.m. It hit a traffic cone, crashed into a ditch and rolled over, troopers said.
Shakyra Siggers, 23, and Marquita Doyle, 24, both of Chicago were hurt in the crash. The report said Siggers had serious injuries and Doyle was minorly injured.
Siggers was taken to University Hospital in an ambulance, the report said. It included Doyle refused treatment and Garrett was taken to the hospital in a patrol vehicle. Troopers said he had moderate injuries.
Hospital spokesman Eric Maze said in an email Siggers was in good condition.
Highway patrol spokesman Cpl. Kyle Green said Garrett tried to escape from the hospital but failed.
Garrett was later released and booked into the Boone Conty Jail on a $3,000 bond at 10:51 p.m. on Tuesday night. He was still in jail custody as of Wednesday morning.
