Columbia teen dies in Howard County crash

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A crash on U.S. Route 40 and the Katy Trail killed a 17-year-old from Columbia Friday morning.

Trey Potter, died Friday morning after the single-car crash in Howard County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol's crash report said the teenager's car exited the right side of the road around 1:45 a.m. Friday. The car then struck a traffic post and concrete barrier before coming to rest on the right side of the road.

According to troopers, Potter died at the scene of the crash. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time it happened.
