JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Jefferson City man was critically injured after a single-vehicle rollover crash early Tuesday morning.

Jefferson City police say Steven W. Cook, 39, crashed in the 2500 block of Highway 50 West around 2:08 a.m.

A release from the police department emailed at 6:34 a.m. said Cook drove off the roadway, hit the median, then his vehicle rolled over several times.

According to the release, Cook was pulled from the vehicle by Jefferson City firefighters.

Cook was the only person hurt in the wreck, the release said.

He was taken to a Columbia hospital after the crash. Officers said Cook was wearing a seatbelt when the crash happened.

The westbound lanes of the highway were closed for about two hours for a police investigation after the crash.
