COLE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

State troopers say an Eldon woman was seriously hurt in a Saturday evening crash.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol Crash report said 62-year-old Cynthia Vernon was injured in the single-vehicle crash.

According to the report, Vernon was driving eastbound on US Highway 54 near the intersection of United Road at 6:15 p.m. on the Fourth of July.

Troopers said her passenger vehicle drove off the right side of the road, crossed over United, hit a street sign, then overturned multiple times.

The patrol said Vernon was thrown from her car, she was listed in serious condition. Vernon was flown to University Hospital in Columbia after the crash, the report said.

A hospital spokeswoman said Vernon was still in serious condition as of Monday morning.

The report said no others were hurt in the crash. Troopers say she was not wearing a seatbelt when it happened.
