KMIZ

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

State troopers say two Jefferson City drivers were hurt and killed in separate crashes Thursday night.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop F crash report said Corey Bax, 30, and Jerry Jackson, 19, were involved in the crashes.

According to the crash report, Bax was killed in a Morgan County crash before 9:30 p.m.

Troopers said Bax was driving north on Route N near Brad Hurst Drive at the time of the crash. Bax's vehicle drove off the left side of the road and hit some logs, the report said.

The crash report said Bax's vehicle overturned. Troopers said he was confirmed dead just before 10 p.m.

Trooper said he wasn't wearing a seatbelt.

A separate crash report said Jackson was seriously injured in a crash in Cole County around 8:15 p.m.

The patrol said Jackson was driving a dirt bike near the intersection of Kleindienst Drive and Elston Road.

Jackson's dirt bike had an unknown problem and caused him to crash, troopers said. The patrol said Jackson was thrown from the bike.

Troopers said Jackson was taken to University Hospital, he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Hospital spokesman Eric Maze said Jackson was treated and later released from the hospital.
