Second crash reported at Rocheport Bridge Tuesday morning
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
UPDATE 8:45 A.M.: Mid-Missouri crews responded to a second crash at the Missouri River Bridge on Interstate 70 westbound near Rocheport on Tuesday.
MoDOT said two vehicles were involved in the wreck around 8:30 a.m. First responders closed the right lane of the interstate on the bridge.
According to the MoDOT map, the lane could be closed until after 9 a.m.
UPDATE 8:18 A.M.: Boone County crews shut down two roads because of flooding after heavy rainfall Tuesday morning.
Boone County Joint Communications tweeted around 7:30 a.m. that portions of E. Brown School Road and Proctor Drive were closed because of water over the roadways.
A Stormtrack Weather Alert Day was called for storms late Monday night into Tuesday morning. Flash flood warnings were in effect around Mid-Missouri early Tuesday.
ORIGINAL: Mid-Missouri crews responded to multiple crashes around Boone County on Tuesday morning after heavy rainfall around the area.
Boone County Joint Communications said in a tweet that drivers should use caution on Interstate 70 West after a crash was reported on the Rocheport Bridge.
The MoDOT Traveler Information Map said two vehicles were involved in the crash at 7:39 a.m. and that crews closed the left of I-70. The interstate has since reopened.
It's not immediately known if any people were hurt in the wreck or how many vehicles were involved.
Joint communications said two crashes were called out within a half-hour of each other near the Stadium Boulevard exit on Highway 63 South in Columbia.
An ABC 17 News crew said at least three vehicles were involved in the first crash just after 7 a.m. Boone County crews said in a tweet the second crash happened before 7:30 a.m.
The first responders weren't immediately available for comment after either crash.
