MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

About 43,000 pounds of french fries spilled onto a road early Sunday after an alleged drunken driver forced a tractor-trailer off of Interstate 70, according to a social media post from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred at 1:14 a.m. Sunday in the eastbound lane of Interstate 70 near mile marker 186, the post states. A drunk driver was driving at a “high rate of speed, weaving in and out of both lanes of traffic,” the post states.

The semi-truck then went through a ditch and rolled over as fries scattered over North Service Road, the post states. No injuries were reported, but crews were on the scene until 9 a.m.

Blake Werner, 21, of Wright City, was arrested on suspicion of DWI, reckless driving, driving while suspended and having no insurance, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol arrest report and an MSHP spokesman. He was brought to the Montgomery County Jail. Charges have yet to appear on Casenet.
