COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Missouri Department of Transportation will begin daily lane closures next week on Interstate 70 as work continues on the Missouri River bridge near Rocheport.

Westbound I-70 will be reduced to one lane at the bridge from 6 a.m. to noon beginning Monday for about three weeks. The closure is needed while contractors set concrete girders on the new bridge, which is being built north of the existing span, MoDOT says.

The bridge, which has been named for Lance Cpl. Leon Deraps, is scheduled to be finished by Dec. 31, 2024. The project budget is about $240 million.

MoDOT posts updated images of the bridge work on a special project webpage.
