Missouri highway patrol reminds drivers to stay safe over the holidays

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ) -

Missouri State Highway Patrol is reminding drivers to stay safe as they head out of town for the holidays.

Troopers said with more people on the roads around the holidays, it's important for drivers to pay attention to the roads, give themselves plenty of time to get to their destination and use seat belts.

"We can do everything we can to enforce the laws, but it really comes down to drivers paying attention and giving themselves plenty of time to react to what's happening around them," said Sgt. Scott White with MSHP.

Sgt. White said troopers will be out in full force on Tuesday and Wednesday to enforce driving laws and help drivers who may be stranded on the side of the road.
