Gary Pinkel to plead guilty in Camden County DWI case

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ) -

Former University of Missouri head football coach Gary Pinkel will plead guilty to a July 2025 DWI, according to court documents filed Monday morning.

The plea details filed by Pinkel's lawyer, Bogdan Susan, ask that a judge accept his plea to misdemeanor driving while intoxicated. Prosecutors would recommend "a fine of $1,000, court costs of $119.50 and $227 recoupment." The written plea also allows Pinkel to waive his right to appear in person for the plea.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Pinkel on July 7, 2025 in Lake Ozark. The trooper wrote in a probable cause statement that Pinkel flagged him down due to car troubles. Pinkel allegedly failed some sobriety tests on the scene, and a breathalyzer test registered his blood alcohol content at .128. Charges in the case were filed on Friday.

Online court records on Monday did not show whether Associate Circuit Judge Michael Gilley signed off on the agreement.

Pinkel is also fighting to keep his driving privileges. A bench trial over that issue is scheduled for Monday morning in Camden County.
