COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ) -

A former Jefferson City Correctional Center nurse received another prison sentence Tuesday for having a sexual relationshop with an inmate.

Judge Cotton Walker sentenced Amy Murray to five years in prison after she pleaded guilty to abusing a prison inmate serving a life sentence for murder in 2018. Department of Corrections investigators found recorded phone conversations between Murray, a nurse contracted through healthcare provider Corizon, and the inmate in September 2018. Investigators believed the two had sexual encounters at least three times.

Murray was already incarcerated following an Alford plea in 2025 for second-degree murder, second-degree arson and tampering with evidence. The Miller County Sheriff's Office accused her of poisoning her husband, Joshua Murray, and setting their home on fire in 2019. Judge Aaron Koeppen gave her a 12-year sentence in that case. That investigation turned up "letters of a romantic nature" between Amy Murray and the inmate, according to the Department of Corrections.

Murray will serve her new sentence concurrently with her murder case.
