Downpours prompt water rescue in Boone County

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A water rescue was initiated in Boone County after a car was swept away in floodwaters Monday morning.

According to Columbia Fire Department Battalion Chief Tommy Goran, emergency personnel have made contact with the person inside the car. The person is uninjured.

The car was originally swept away at the intersection of West Driskel Road and Route E around 7:20 a.m.

The Columbia Regional Airport recorded close to 4 inches of rain between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning.
