EUGENE, Mo. (KMIZ)

A deadly crash closed the eastbound lanes of Highway 54 between Eugene and Brazito in Cole County on Monday afternoon.

Details were not immediately available on how the crash happened and the person killed was not identified. The crash happened near Brown Road, according to a public safety alert. Eastbound traffic was being detoured around the crash site.

It wasn't clear how long Highway 54 eastbound would be closed. The road reopened just after 5 p.m.
