Southern Boone County bridge closes after approach failure

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ) -

Boone County Road and Bridge closed a bridge in the southern part of the county Thursday afternoon.

The department announced in a news release that it closed the Rippeto Road bridge over the Bonne Femme Creek at Harold Cunningham Drive due to a "bridge approach failure." Road maintenance supervisor Chris Jennings said the bridge will be closed "for an unforeseeable amount of time."

The bridge is near the Missouri River, about eight miles west of Ashland.
