First American deaths reported in joint U.S.-Israeli operation on Iran
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The U.S. military announced the first American deaths Sunday since the joint U.S.-Israeli attack on Iran began Saturday morning.
"Three U.S. service members have been killed in action and five are seriously wounded as part of Operation Epic Fury," the U.S. Central Command said in a statement shared on social media.
Several others have been hurt, suffering minor shrapnel injuries and concussions, CENCOM said. Those service members are being returned to duty.
Major combat operations continue and our response effort is ongoing," CENTCOM said, without providing additional information on the nature of any of the casualties.

No additional information was provided about the nature of the deaths.
"The situation is fluid, so out of respect for the families, we will withhold additional information, including the identities of our fallen warriors, until 24 hours after next of kin have been notified," CENCOM said.
