COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ) -

A military jury found an Army specialist guilty of a Fort Leonard Wood murder on Wednesday.

The jury convicted Specialist Wooster Rancy of murder and obstruction of justice after a week-long trial in Pulaski County, according to Army trial counsel spokesperson Michelle McCaskill. The trial will head to a sentencing phase, which McCaskill said is slated to last until the end of the week.

Rancy, of North Miami, Florida, was accused of killing Sgt. Sarah Roque in 2024 at the Army base in Pulaski County. Army officials said they found Roque's body in a dumpster near the base after she did not show up for duty.

The trial began on January 27 at the Pulaski County courthouse. McCaskill said Rancy faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole and a minimum sentence of life in prison but with the chance at parole.
