Suspect identified in central Columbia shooting

First responders help a man shot on Old 63 North at McAlester Street on Friday, May 9 in Columbia, Mo. Police said the man's injury was non-life-threatening.

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ) -

In a press release Saturday morning, the Columbia Police Department announced they arrested 18-year-old Columbia man Kieran Piersee in connection to Friday night's shooting on Moss Street.

Piersee was charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.

The statement also reported that police located a 32-year-old victim with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds who was transported to a local hospital.

Lt. Derek Moore told ABC 17 News on scene that a man had been shot in the 900 block of Moss Street. First responders found the victim with a wound to the leg nearby on the west side of Old 63 North near McAlester Street. Moore said the wound wasn't life-threatening.

Moore said officers detained a suspect in the shooting. He said there was no further threat to the public.
