Thousands of people with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance plans will no longer be able to see MU Health Care doctors and be covered.

The insurance giant Anthem, which is among the state's biggest, and the health care network ended their negotiations Monday ahead of a midnight deadline to renew a contract. Starting Tuesday, MU Health Care is no longer in-network for Anthem customers.

Now, patients face the task of finding a new doctor in their network.

Providers such as Boone Health stand ready to fill that gap. However, changing providers is never easy, and many patients feel comfortable with their doctors.
