La Belle man hurt after crashing fishing boat at Lake of the Ozarks

LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. (KMIZ)

A 49-year-old La Belle man was seriously hurt and arrested after a boat crash at the Lake of the Ozarks Thursday morning, according to a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The report states the man was recklessly driving a fishing boat near the 33 mile marker of the main channel at 10 a.m. on Thursday when the boat crashed into the shoreline and sank.

The driver was taken to Lake Regional Hospital with serious injuries.

The man was arrested for boating while intoxicated.

While the name is not listed in the crash report, Clayton Wainwright, 49, of La Belle, was arrested just before 12:30 p.m. Thursday, on charges of boating while intoxicated, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and carelessly operating a boat, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol arrest report.
