Body of kayaker found after missing since March 14

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The body of a man who was last seen on March 14 in the Clear Creek Cove area of Truman Lake in Benton County was found on Sunday afternoon.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Christopher David Salmons, 40, of Warsaw was found Sunday around 1:30 p.m. after he was reported missing nine days before.

An online report states Salmons was kayaking on Truman Lake in high winds when he fell out of the kayak. He drowned according to Troopers because of the water temperature.

The report states he was not wearing a life jacket.

MSHP Troop A posted on March 19 that the Water Patrol and Dive Team members had been searching the Clear Creek Cove area since March 14.

According to a phone call with a ranger with Missouri State Parks, the lake's temperature was 45 degrees on the morning of March 14.
