Columbia Water & Light crews assist in Rolla

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia Utilities shared on Tuesday that a crew from Water & Light was sent to Rolla to assist in restoring electric services after a recent tornado hit the area.

Columbia Utilities spokesman Matt Nestor said the group has been in Rolla since Sunday. They are expecting the team to be working out there until Thursday or even longer.

Five crew members made the trip to Rolla, according to the city.

The city also sent equipment to assist including a backyard machine, bucket truck and digger.

Rolla Municipal Utilities shared on Facebook that as of 8 a.m. on Tuesday, there were still 1,900 customers without power. That number is down from 8,000 customers who lost power after the tornado.

Crews from Waynesville, West Plains, Fulton and St. James are also assisting Rolla restore power, according to the post.
