At least 12 dead after severe weather rips through Missouri

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has received reports of at least 12 storm-related deaths, according to a Saturday X post.

Six are dead in Wayne County, three in Ozark County, one in Butler County, one in Jefferson County and one in St. Louis County.

MSHP is continuing to work with local agencies to assist people in need and assess damage, according to another X post made a little after 9:00 a.m. Saturday.

"Information is becoming more accurate as the morning progresses," the post says.

"We urge residents to stay away from debris-filled areas, watch for downed power lines, and follow regional emergency services for localized updates," the post says.
