Lake Ozark Fire Protection District names new fire chief
LAKE OZARK, Mo. (KMIZ)
Lake Ozark Fire Protection District Board of Directors named its new fire chief on Monday.
According to a release from the agency, Jerry Blomberg was promoted from Deputy Chief of Professional Development to his new role earlier this month.
A spokesperson said in a news release on Monday that Blomberg started his new job on March 5.
Blomberg started as a firefighter in 1993 with the St. Elizabeth Fire Protection District where he served until began working at the Jefferson City Fire Department in 1997, the release states. He also worked at JCFD as a fire driver and fire captain before holding the title of Division Chief of Training for nine years.
The new chief has an associate degree in Fire Science from Columbia College and a bachelor's degree from Columbia Southern University.
The release states he has also held a paramedic's license for over 25 years. He also served Jefferson City as a Shift Training Officer and Tactical Medic.
Bloomberg started at Lake Ozark Fire in January.
The search for a new fire chief started in November after the agency posted the job opening on Facebook. The previous chief, Marcus Carr was named the fire chief in April 2023.
