Southern Boone County Fire crews work large fuel spill Saturday, road temporarily closed

BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Crews from the Southern Boone County Fire Protection District along with other agencies are currently working a large fuel spill on Tom Bass Rd. and State Route H after a semi-truck flipped over Saturday morning.

Southern Boone Fire shared on Facebook photos of a semi-truck flipped over on a curved road as firefighters worked to clean up spilled fuel in the area.

The road will be closed until about 1 p.m. Saturday, according to the post.

Firefighters with the Columbia Fire Department and the Boone County Fire Protection District Hazardous Materials team helped control the flow of fuel from the semi.

A Boone County Joint Communications alert was sent just after 4:30 a.m. Saturday states that a semi truck overturned at I-70 and Rt. Z, blocking the outer road. Drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible.

A second alert was sent at 6:26 a.m. stating the Route H overpass over Highway 63 and the southbound ramp from Route H to 63 was also closed.
