HOLTS SUMMIT, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Wednesday that a 3-year-old girl was killed when a car rolled on a snowy Highway 54 exit ramp in Holts Summit.

The crash at about 7 a.m. at the Simon Boulevard exit ramp involved one vehicle which was found rolled over, Holts Summit police say in a news release. The child was found pinned beneath the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene despite lifesaving efforts, the release says.

A crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol states a 29-year-old man was driving a 1998 Ford Explorer on the exit ramp of Highway 54 to Simon Road.

The report states the crash happened when the car slid off the road, hit a tree and overturned.

Troopers said three people were in the car including a 3-year-old girl and an infant.

MSHP spokesman Kyle Green told ABC 17 News that the children were in car seats, but were not properly secured in them.

The man had moderate injuries while the infant did not have any injuries, according to MSHP.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol put out the first public notice of the crash on X.

The exit ramp reopened just after 9 a.m.
