KMIZ

AUDRAIN COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A fire at a home in Audrain County reignited Wednesday morning, according to Gale Blomenkamp with the Boone County Fire Protection District.

According to a release from Little Dixie Fire Protection District, fire crews were called to Audrain Road 165 at 1:15 a.m. on Wednesday for a house fire with flames visible from the attic.

The release states that Little Dixie Fire requested mutual aid from Boone County Fire as they were closer. The scene is located just north of the Boone County line. There is also not an assigned fire district for the area, according to officials at the scene.

ABC 17 News crews arrived on scene just before 3 a.m. and were told by a firefighter with the Boone County Fire Protection District that the fire caused a lot of damage, but crews were able to save the structural integrity of the home.

Little Dixie Fire said in its release the fire started in the attic around the flue for the wood stove. The damage to the home is estimated at $100,000. No one was hurt, according to fire officials.

Both fire districts were called back to the home around 7:48 a.m. after some of the insulation in the attic caught fire again, according to the release.
