Firefighter treated after south Columbia house fire

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

No civilians were hurt but a firefighter was treated after a house fire in south Columbia Wednesday morning.

The Columbia Fire Department was called to the home on 4403 Glen Eagle Drive at 6:22 a.m.

CFD spokesperson Katherine Rodriguez said when crews arrived on scene they found flames coming from the roof of the home.

Rodriguez said no one was home at the time of the fire, but there were dogs in the backyard that were not injured.

Chief Brian Schaeffer later said one firefighter was evaluated for injuries but was cleared to return to duty. Seven companies with 21 firefighters responded, CFD said in a news release.

Firefighters were still at the scene monitoring for hot spots Wednesday afternoon, the release says.

Fire marshals will be investigating the cause, Rodriguez said.

Video sent to the ABC 17 Newsroom Wednesday morning showed flames coming from the roof of the home.

ABC 17 News crews arrived on scene at 7:40 a.m. and saw smoke coming from a window of a two-story home along with several Columbia Fire Department trucks.
