RV that caught fire on Highway 50 is ‘total loss,’ officials say

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Monday evening that Highway 50 had to be closed east of Tipton because of an RV fire.

The patrol's Troop F posted on social media just before 6 p.m. that an RV was "fully engulfed" in flame and had a large amount of propane on it. The road was closed in both directions, the message states.

Troopers were asking drivers to avoid the area.

A California Fire Department official told ABC 17 News in a message that the RV was a “total loss.” They said the driver of the vehicle smelled something burning, pulled over and tried to put it out. But, the fire got out of control too soon.
