A local icon announced Monday that it's closing up.

The Sub Shop, part of Columbia life for 49 years, is closing and selling its furnishing and equipment at auction. The owners posted a message to their customers on the restaurant's Facebook page Monday.

Multiple generations of University of Missouri students and Columbia residents enjoyed the locally-owned Sub Shop for decades.
