Missouri Task Force 1 members still responding in North Carolina for Helene relief
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Missouri Task Force 1 members are still responding to North Carolina for Hurricane Helene relief efforts.
Three members have been demobilized, according to a social media post from the Boone County Fire Protection District. The post says Task Force 1 members are currently staged in Black Mountain, North Carolina, and have not been released yet by the state of North Carolina.
“The seven, specially trained, Human Remains Detection (HRD) K9 teams, from MO-TF1, remain in staging in North Carolina. The ‘pool’ of 19 national HRD K9s have been well rested and remain ready to respond as needed in the disaster area. The teams will remain in Morrisville until further notice,” the post says. “While MO-TF1 has not been reassigned to Hurricane Milton at this time, the team stands ready and capable to respond to any mission related to either hurricane.”
