Jury trial for Columbia man accused of murder set to begin Tuesday

BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Corey Blueitt, 44, is set to appear for A jury trial at 9 a.m. Sep. 24 for the alleged shooting and killing of Aaron Badolato, 34, December 2022 in the 2000 block of Newtown Drive in north Columbia.

Blueitt was indicted by a grand jury in Dec. 2022.

According to court documents and previous reports multiple witnesses say they saw Blueitt holding a gun and pointing it at multiple people.

According to a probable cause statement, one witness who said Blueitt was her ex-boyfriend saw Blueitt getting back into his vehicle after shooting Badolato.

The woman said Blueitt was going to come back and kill one of the other witnesses and threatened to "blow up the whole block," according to the statement. She said Blueitt showed up at the residence multiple times and was threatening one of the witnesses, according to police. One of the witnesses was allegedly waiting for Badoloto to arrive.

She also told police she heard someone screaming "help," and "you shot him" from one of the witnesses.

When officers arrived at the scene that night, they found Badolato with gunshot wounds in the front yard. Badolato later died in the hospital.

Boone County Judge, Jeff Harris will be presiding over the case.
