Smithton man seriously injured after being hit by UTV Saturday evening

CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Smithton, Illinois man was seriously hurt after he and a woman were hit by a UTV in Camden County Saturday evening, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

The crash happened at around 7 p.m. on Siesta Circle in Camden County, according to the report.

The crash report states that a 2021 Kawasaki Utility, driven by Rona Welsch, 57, of Camdenton, was backing up toward a concrete retaining wall. Bonnie Christian, 66, of Smithton and Kevin Christian, 67, of Smithton were behind the UTV guiding Welsch backwards.

Welsch accelerated the UTV and hit Bonnie Christian and Kevin Christian.

Kevin Christian was flown to University Hospital with serious injuries. Bonnie Christian was taken to Lake Regional Hospital by ambulance with moderate injuries, the report states.
