MoDot hosts Superintendent Talk meeting on Rocheport Bridge construction
ROCHEPORT, Mo. (KMIZ)
The I-70 Rocheport Bridge design-build team and MoDot hosted a Superintendent Talk on Aug. 17 to update the public on the project's progress.
At the meeting, the team talked about their incoming shipment of new girders and reassured the public that construction progress is on track to finish up by the end of the year.
"What we've got left, the main critical path right now is getting the girders in place and then getting the deck poured," MoDot construction inspector Andrew Bertels said. "We have asphalt starting this next week."
The public was invited to attend. Most questions this month were focused on how weather impacts construction and how cranes operate on the site.
The project plans for two bridges going in opposite directions with three lanes.
Construction on the bridge started in Oct. of 2021 with the westbound bridge opening in June 2023. MoDot organized the project after the bridge was rated in poor condition. It is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
This meeting is reoccurring and planned for every third Saturday of the month.
