COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A 16-year-old boy was hurt when he was hit by a vehicle Wednesday in Mexico, police say.

The boy was walking on Fairground Road near Falcon Drive a little after 9 p.m. when he was hit by a vehicle southbound on Fairground, the Mexico Department of Public Safety wrote in a news release. The driver, Jacob Barnes, 20, of Fulton, was using windshield washer fluid to clean his windshield and didn't see the teenager, police say.

The crash damaged the vehicle. The teen was taken by ambulance to University Hospital.

Information on his condition was not available Thursday.
