An 86-year-old man drowned on Saturday at a Maries County lake.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Warren Cooper of Dixon drowned in the Rinquelin Trail Lake Conservation Area around 4:15 p.m. The drowning report said Cooper fell into the water when he slipped on the boat ramp while getting out of his kayak.

The Rinquelin Trail Lake Conservation Area is located in southwestern Maries County near the borders of Miller and Phelps counties. The Missouri Department of Conservation says the area sports a 29-acre lake.
