Bicyclist seriously hurt after being hit by car in Cole County

COLE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Jefferson City man was flown to University Hospital after being hit by a car while riding a bike.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the crash happened on Route C at Vintage Point at 9:40 p.m. Sunday.

According to the online crash report, Christopher Phillips, 50, was on a bike in the road when he was hit by a Buick Enclave driven by Detra Thomas Randall, 56, of Jefferson City.

Phillips was flown to University Hospital with serious injuries. Randall was not injured.

Troopers said Phillips was not wearing a helmet.
