CALLAWAY COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Two 18-year-olds were seriously injured in a late-night crash in Callaway County on Saturday.

The crash happened at 11:22 p.m. near Route F at County Road 323. Two 18-year-old males, Sergio Moreno and Owen Trout were seriously injured during the crash.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Moreno was driving a 2008 BMW 3251. MSHP said the car was driving too fast for the roadway, failed to make a curve, and traveled off the left side of the road. The car then struck the ground twice and overturned before coming to a rest.

Both Moreno and Owen were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the incident and were transported to University Hospital by Callaway County EMS, according to the crash report.

Moreno is from Kingdom City, and Owen is from Auxvasee. MSHP reports that the driver was not covered by insurance.
