Reese Development plans to demolish ‘several blighted properties’ on Bagnell Dam Strip
LAKE OZARK, Mo. (KMIZ)
Several “blighted” properties on the Bagnell Dam Strip in Lake Ozark could be demolished, according to a Tuesday press release from Reese Development.
The development company made plans to demolish properties and presented the plan to a Lake Ozark Board of Aldermen meeting, the statement says. The plan includes the immediate demolition of properties on the Strip, and another round of demolitions in 2025.
“Our company has been working in partnership with the City to identify blighted properties for removal,” Nick Reese, president of Reese Development, said in the release. “We appreciate their support as we take this important first step to clean up the Strip and prepare for redevelopment.”
The release states that Reese asked the city for assistance in applying for a $600,000 Community Development Block Grant. Reese Development would contribute a 20% match ($120,000) and will cover the costs for the city’s grant writers and administrators, the release says.
CDBG fund applications are set to open next month and will close in September, the release states.
The release says the demolition work in the next few weeks would include: Two Bit Town, the original Old Time Photos structure at 1484 Bagnell Dam Boulevard, the rubble behind the Haunted Hotel, the old Sky Ferry foundation structure near the Bagnell Dam parking lot and more. The release says those will be demolished “out of pocket” for Reese Development.
