Human remains found Feb. 8 near Chamois belong to a man missing since last summer, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said Friday.

Investigators with the Division and Drug and Crime Control said Friday in a news release that the remains belong to Derek C. Holtmeyer, 35, of Linn, Missouri. His family reported him missing to the Osage County Sheriff's Office on July 12, 2023, after not hearing from him since the previous day.

The Boone County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed Thursday that the remains were Holtmeyer's.

The sheriff's office asked for the highway patrol's help on Oct. 13 and investigators found the remains Feb. 8, the release says. The investigation into his disappearance is ongoing, the patrol says.
